“Neighbourhood watching; How true. Months ago , the Wells Rd. was a route I used daily towards town. As far back as last year, that shop has had a gang of dodgy-looking characters skulking around the doorway. No doubt the owner lost a fair amount of custom. Wouldn't want to antagonise the little darlings by shooing them away, for fear of reprisal.”

“'Busting caps' is their way of life and something they hold dear to their hearts. As a member of the jewish community, I am sorry that we don't have some similar attribute, but then again, I suppose I am partly to blame for that.”

“Are we surprised that this has happened again (well am not) it's time the police got their act together and started talking more to the community and stop thinking about their crime figures
it's time the police started gaining the trust of the community as the community does not trust the police right now, we feel let down by the police, there are some of us that would like to talk to the police but we dare not as we know there would be repercussions and the police will not be there to look after us.
so what do we do? First of all we get a police commander that is actively talking to the community we used to have a good one for st anns called Andy Townsend's he his very community minded but unfortunately we lost him to the city, I believe we need a police commander that is community driven, we all have a part to play in stamping out this gang and gun culture it's time we started working as a team.”

“The fools in charge of our city , no doubt will dither and dither . Rather thean enforce effective policing , they will come up with some politically correct scheme to improve the area that will involve throwing a few million quid in the general direction of vermin who make everyday normal people lives such a misery .”

“Neighbourhood watching-Thorneywood
is exactly right with his summing up.
I actually drove by the shop a couple of minutes before the incident happpened,
and noticed a gang of about 4 or 5 youths, outside the hairdressers which adjoins the Shop. Carried on driving down The Wellsy. Called in the bookies to place a bet, and when i came out, a couple of guys who also regularly hang about outside the betting shop drinking
"tinnies" were commenting on what had happened. Got back into my car, commented to the missus, and then watched a speeding Police car making it's way to the scene. Will the culprits be apprehended?- More chance of The Bill being given a reprieve from the axe.!”
