SCHOOLS in Eastwood are set to benefit from new cash for after school activities.

Fundsport UK have become the Extended Services project managers for the area.

Extended Services is a Government initiative to keep schools open for local residents and pupils to use, by 2010.

Fundsport UK, based in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, already coordinates the Extended Services project within Arnold.

Breakfast clubs, lunchtime clubs and after school clubs will be created alongside sport options.

The Eastwood 'family of schools' includes Eastwood Comprehensive, Eastwood Infant and Nursery, Eastwood Junior, Priory Catholic, Greasley, Brookhill Leys and Lynncroft Primary.

The exact amount of funding has not yet been announced.
