MATCHMEN Bulwell had a disastrous match at Lakeview. Six of them sat for six hours without a bite on Serpent.

Others never saw a fish after the first two hours.

Catches were so poor that Daniel Fitch, on peg 9, needed only 19-12 to win. That was made up of 11 carp to 3lb, on pellet across to the island.

Simon Cooke, on peg 20, was second with 14-14. He had eight carp to 2lb on paste, tight to the island and pellet down the track into empty peg 19.

Cooke caught in the first two hours, but was bite-less until his last put-in tempted a lone carp of 2lb.

Nigel Mounfield was third with seven carp to 3lb and two bream, for 12lb, at peg 23.

By contrast, visitor Paul Dexter won the Arnold Ex-service match at Jansons with a massive 143-11. He was over 40lbs clear of Mark Smith, who also broke three figures.

Match 11 of the LEVAS club championship, for the Richardson Cup, saw a decent turnout on the Club Pool at Tunnel Barn Farm.

Top weight fell to defending Club Champion Paul Richardson (peg 19), who fished long pole to the island for 75-6 on pellet and maggot.

Guest Pete Charles (peg 21), was second with 71-12 while John Adamson weighed 67-11 from peg 16. He caught seven carp in the first hour on method feeder fished, then switched to paste presented for several carp to 4lb late in the match.

Dave Kent still leads on 158pts from Raul Richardson (138), Mick Lager (128), John Adamson 126), Steph Fedyszyn (102) and Rob Henrick (101).

Match 12 will be at Beechwood Fishery (Oak Pool) on October 12.

Local knowledge paid off in the Carlton AC match at Moon Lakes, Tattershall. Venue regular, Joe Culllis, took the honours with 50lb of carp on pole in the margins.

Mick Austin, also fishing the margins, was second with 46-8-0.

In-form Colin Reek made it three wins out of four when he topped the Waltonians match at a flat-calm Sherwood Forest Farm Park.

He fished pellet-feeder throughout for 51lbs – 18 carp to 7lb. Sean Lambert was second with 38-4 on pole and paste.

Rob Marlowe fished paste at 11m to just win the ROF match on Holmedale with 63-12 from peg 17.

He just edged out Martin Turner, who fished the same method on peg 10 for 57-10. Last week's winner Richard Stacey, in the middle of them, was third with 47-12.

Ray Redwood won the Barnstone Fur & Feather match on the match pit with 23-8 off peg 46. He had three carp to 14lb.

Mark Morris was second with 22-4 of silvers from peg 32, while Neil Fisher claimed third with 19-14 of silvers at peg 8.

Roach king Martin Fielding topped the Bingham match on the Nene with 5-15 of roach. Pete Mason was a close second with 5-13, thanks to a bonus 4-3 chub.

It was an expensive day out for two Acorn AC members at Robinwood Lakes.

Bob Hartshorne snapped his No.5 section, while Jim Tomlinson lost a top 3. Richard Green won with 42-11 of carp and Ide on chopped worm and caster.

Hucknall match secretary John Mardell chalked up a rare win on the river with 5-2 of roach at Farndon.

Queen Adelaide were delighted with their first trip to Woodend Fishery. The big carp in the Kattery eluded them, but Stephen Astle pipped his dad, Barry, to win with 24-3.

Mark Shelton broke his personal best with 96-12 in the Gate Inn match at Boddington. Mark Wyatt, in second spot with 94-8, landed the biggest fish of the season, a 15lb carp.

Midland found fish feeding in pockets on London Rd Canal (pegs 171-189).

Anthony White, off peg 178, took the honours with 8-7 of roach. He alternated between lollipop float, laid on with casters near side of the track, or well across in the slacker water with hemp.

Second, and also winning the KO Cup, was Paul Nightingale with 7-12 off peg 175.

He fished into the slacker water for roach and a bonus 2lb chub on caster.
