Nottingham's Savoy cinema launches big-screen console experience
BIGGER may not always be better, but size is clearly an attraction in the world of entertainment.
Already big, the traditional movie theatre has been over shadowed by IMAX, as viewers search for the ultimate cinema experience.

And now computer-game fans are being given the chance to test the size theory too – as the Savoy cinema launches a big-screen console experience for the first time.

"It's set up exactly how they would play from home, but on the cinema screen," he said.
"Any gamer will know what the attraction is. It's the big picture, the big sound that you just don't get at home.
"And people playing on a much bigger screen will be able to get lost in their game, just as people get lost in films at the cinema."
For the most hard-core of gamers, individual sessions are available.
But with the option of having up to seven people playing at any one time Mr Welberry is expecting to see "PlayStation parties" become increasingly popular.
A cinema screen at the Savoy, in Derby Road, can be hired for two hours for £95, for an unlimited number of people. Gamers can take their own games or choose from a selection provided. PlayStations and Xboxes are available to play on, or alternative consoles can be hooked up if people bring them along.
Iain Simons, director of Nottingham's GameCity computer game festival, said the big screen was a great idea for making gaming a more sociable experience. "One of the big lessons we've learnt over the last eight years, is that watching video games can often be as much fun as actually playing them," he said.
"So presenting the right games in big screen cinemas can make for a really entertaining night out.
"Just like movies, games are something that can be experienced together and cinemas are obviously a great way to do that."
Game enthusiast Alex Jeffery, 24, of West Bridgford, who plays on his console every day, is interested to see how the big screen would work.
"I'd be quite keen to go and watch and if it's for a special occasion or a birthday," he said. "There are some horror games which would be great in a cinema environment."
