NOTTS County boss Martin Allen says it is time to give Ishmel Demontagnac the chance to shine at Meadow Lane.

Demontagnac, 23, joined the Magpies on a free transfer in the summer, but made only the second league start of the season in their last game against Preston North End.

While several of the club's other new signings, like leading scorer Jeff Hughes, Alan Sheehan and Julian Kelly have all become established in the first team, Demontagnac has so far struggled to make an impact.

Allen believes that is all about to change, however.

"Ishmel has been fantastic in training so I've been racking my brains to find a way of getting him into the team," he said.

"The crowd love him and he brings this place to life when he plays. He has got so much talent and so much ability I think it is time Ishmel got the chance to show everyone what he can do, I really do believe that."

Demontagnac has had a troubled career and was sacked by one of his former clubs, Walsall, in 2008 after a 'series of serious breaches of club discipline' during three years at the Bescot Stadium.

But Allen believes the attitude of the winger – and all of his players – is second to none.

"Attitude is unquestionably important," he said.

"I've done some work with people at Manchester United in the past year and Sir Alex Ferguson has always said that if players have the wrong mentality don't sign them and I strongly believe that too.

"You can improve a player's technique and make them better physically, but it's hard to change their attitude if they cannot be bothered.

"I have said time and time again that the attitude of my players is spot on.

"I don't like fancy dans, Big-Time Charlies or skivers and my players are decent, proper people, hard-working professionals. They are second to none."
