More prizes for pennies in Maggie's auction
THERE is a treat for sports fans and ladies who like a spot
of pampering in this week's auction for our Maggie's
appeal.
We have eight tickets to see Notts Outlaws take on the
Sussex Sharks in the NatWest Pro40 League on September 14 at
the county ground – plus an England practice top, signed by
former captain Michael Vaughan.
The tickets were donated by Mars employees from an
Apprentice-style challenge they recently took part in at
Nottingham.
Proceeds from the auction, which raises funds from text
bids, will go to our £500,000 appeal for a cancer caring centre
in Nottingham.
The other prize this week comprises an £85 Dream Journey
Traveller, a luxury carry-all containing a selection of Elemis
skin and beauty essentials, plus a relaxing SpaPod facial,
which is worth £45, at John Lewis in Nottingham.
Long Eaton mum Jo Cole, 42, won a trip to Jersey Live Music
Festival, including free bmibaby flights and accommodation in a
top hotel in St Helier with her 5p bid.
Mrs Cole, who wanted the prize for her daughter Rosie, 17,
said: "It's fantastic. She's going to be ecstatic. She loves
concerts and festivals."
Meanwhile, Carol Crichton, 55, of Beeston, can't wait to
spend her £130 in gift cards at the new Tesco Express in
Lenton, which she won for 8p.
