Both are believed to have been with a group of people who had been at a party inside. Hotel staff said they believed the pair had been attacked with air weapons.

Police said both victims suffered minor injuries. Officers are still trying to confirm what type of weapon was used.

A hotel worker said the incident happened at about 11.30pm as a group of people who had been at the party were outside talking and smoking.

The worker said: "We think someone came across from The Forest recreation ground.

"A shot was fired and everyone ran into the hotel.

"We've no idea what it was about but it was a pellet gun. We're checking the CCTV footage and helping the police."

The hotel manager, who did not want to be named, said the party, involving 50 to 60 people, was winding down when staff heard a commotion outside.

He said: "Everyone came running inside. Both people were injured and were shot to the legs."

Police and an ambulance were called and the youth and woman were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where they were treated for minor leg injuries.

A police cordon was set up and forensic officers in white boiler suits examined the scene outside the hotel yesterday morning.

The hotel remained open and both injured people were expected to be discharged from hospital.

One person who was staying at the hotel said: "We came back to the hotel about 3am and there was this cordon outside.

"We asked what was going on and were just told two people had been hurt in an incident."

A Notts Police spokesman said the pair had suffered "minor suspected firearms injuries".

He added: "No arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

“Actually, are we sure that there was a shooting? Could it be possible that this whole sage is total fabrication thought up by the Tory press trying to divert attention from the massive cuts? Or is it possible that there was a shooting and it was a kitten that was shot and then robbed by greedy bankers? Either way it is somebody else's fault eh chaps.”

“Was there a bang? Or was it an air gun?

Shotgun/Air-gun? There is a hell of a difference.

A ten-year-old could soon tell you whether bullets or air gun pellets were used! If members of the Public there at the time "heard" a shot whilst talking etc then it was not an air-gun was it?

God help us if the police can't quickly assess which was used if victims have lead in their legs!”

Bigoted, emasculated, racist, useless, workshy, self-hating hypocrite. And a massive liar to boot. No wonder the BBC love him.”

“Whilst I agree that decisions made in Westminster directly affect society I don't think that it's the NP's job to uncover international corrupt banking practices. It is after all a localised paper albeit owned by a national company, Westcliffe.

Blaming everything on the bankers is just silly really.
There are people out there who are genuinely bad to the bone. This may not sit well with your apologist views but these aren't freedom fighters we're talking about. It will be about some kids from a part of inner city Nottingham being in an area around 1 mile away from home and the 'gangsta's' from the vicinity taking exception to this.

Radford v St Anns for example. Welcome to Nottingham. Enjoy your stay and keep your head down.”
