'It is nice for us to hear she has no regrets'
REBECCA Adlington's parents Steve and Kay said the most comforting words they could take from yesterday's press conference was that their daughter has no regrets. The pair were in London for the event.
And Kay said: "She has been talking about the passion and drive that got her to where she is and it is nice for us, as parents, to hear her say she has no regrets. She has had a fantastic journey and every journey has to come to a stop or change of direction and she feels it is time for that. That's a good sign.
"It is a tough and isolated sport. Throughout her career she has felt that drive from within.
"She has taken her time, taken a few months and got the balance right. Working with youngsters is something she is really passionate about – to get every child able to swim 25m when they leave primary school. That is what she wants to aim for."

Dad Steve added: "What amazes our friends and us is she is an Olympic champion and has just got her Level Two coaching badge. It is back to basics."
Kay added: "That is Becky all over. To do what she wants to do now, she has to go back to the bottom and work her way up and she understands that."
