A WOMAN who gave up her time to help her neighbour after she went into hospital has been nominated for a Reach Out award.

Pensioner Jean Barnacle said she would not have been able to cope if Angela Revil had not been there to look after her dog and help her when she came out.

The 71-year-old was in hospital for three weeks for a hip operation.

Mrs Barnacle, of Darwin Close, Top Valley, said: "When I came out I could not bend down. She used to put all my clothes out, do all the ironing.

"I was worried about my little dog because she is all I have got."

Mrs Barnacle has nominated Angela for the Coroner's Good Neighbour Award.

Angela, 54, of Brisbane Drive, Top Valley, also volunteers at a day centre twice a week.

She said: "I don't really see it as a big effort, I enjoy doing it."
