New cycle lockers at Phoenix Park and Ride

Tuesday, November 04, 2008, 14:12

SIX cycle lockers have been installed at Phoenix Park and Ride tram stop, near Cinderhill.

Together with nine existing stands, they will provide a safe place for cyclists to leave their bikes and are monitored by CCTV cameras.

Cycle stands are available at most tram stops along the route and Hucknall already has lockers.

Hugh McClintock, chair of the cyclists' group Pedals, said: "This will make cyclists far happier about the security of their bikes.

"But it is also a very good way in which combined use of bikes and other environmentally friendly transport, such as trams, can be promoted."

The idea was originally proposed by Pedals member Andy Whickham. For more information, contact Matthew Colver on 0115 915 6639. For details of Phoenix park and ride site, call 0115 942 7777.
