Bernard Langton shooting to feature on city anti-gun and knife crime DVD
The 20-minute No Gun Organisation production also includes images of floral tributes left by the alleyway where the 27-year-old Bulwell father-of-two was found by police early on bank holiday Monday, May 25.
Interviews with Ryan Munn, brother of Liam Munn, who died in an incident outside Halo nightclub in Nottingham city centre earlier this year, former city gang members and Home Office Minister and Gedling MP Vernon Coaker are also featured on the DVD.
Footage from a stage drama based on the Danielle Beccan shooting, performed by pupils from Manning School for Girls in Aspley, and a hip-hop track produced by rappers from across the city, will also be included.
The DVD, called Guns Knives Destroy Lives Nottingham, is being launched with a showing at Cineworld at 7pm on Thursday, June 18. Families of city gun and knife crime victims, school heads and pupils, and leading figures from Nottingham City Council and Notts Police will be there.
Clayton Byfield, founder of The No Gun Organisation, which works with hundreds of young people across Nottingham, said: "We've gone back into the edit suite to put together a further minute-and-a-half piece on Mr Langton's death.
"We ask what more proof do you need that carrying a gun or knife can result in the loss of life?
"We've already done a presentation of the DVD to 50 young people at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in Nottingham which went well."
Around 500 copies of the DVD are being produced. It will also be made downloadable from June 26, costing £2.50, from the No Gun Organisation website www.donewithit.co.uk.
No Gun Organisation will also be using it at a number of three-hour Saturday workshops in Nottingham from July.
A limited number of tickets is still available for the premiere. To apply visit info@donewithit.co.uk
