Armed robbery at bookies

A MAN threatened staff with a gun and stole cash from a city centre bookmakers.

The man went into Ladbrokes in Carlton Road, just before midday on Saturday armed with a handgun.

He is then believed to have run into the nearby housing estate.

No one was injured but staff members who were in the shop at the time were badly shaken.

This is the second raid on a Ladbrokes to take place within two weeks. The last happened on October 2 when two hooded men - one brandishing a gun - went into the Ladbrokes in Carlton Hill.

Police are appealing for information about the incident on Saturday. The man is described as white, in his late teens and wearing a dark hooded top.
