THE family of the late former Mansfield Town manager Ian Greaves and players he guided to the club's finest hour at Wembley will be present for the renaming of the West Stand at Field Mill on Saturday.

Vera Greaves, and her sons Jason and Simon, and Ian's daughter Christine will be joined by many of the 1987 Freight Rover Trophy-winning team including Keith Cassells, Kevin Hitchcock and Mike Graham for the event and dedication of what will be known as the Ian Greaves Stand sponsored by Napit.

The club is inviting supporters to attend the 12.30pm ceremony before the Blue Square Premier clash with Tamworth when there will be a dedication by club chaplain, the Reverend Tim Mitchell, a speech from chairman Andrew Perry and the chance to meet Stags legends in the Sandy Pate Bar.

The ceremony will be repeated on the pitch nearer to kick-off.

Mr Perry said: "Ian Greaves was arguably our greatest manager and led us to one of the club's finest hours.

"By honouring him in this way, we are putting another piece in the jigsaw which is helping to put the soul back into Mansfield Town."
