Backe walks out on Notts County
HANS Backe has quit as Notts County manager.
He met the players before this morning's training session and told them of his decision.
The Swede took over from Ian McParland at the end of October and has been in charge of just nine games.
A club spokesman said today: "Notts County can confirm that first team manager Hans Backe has resigned his position at the club.
"The club wishes to thank Hans for his service and wishes him all the best in the future.
"David Kevan has been appointed caretaker manager and will take charge of the League Two visit to Bournemouth next Monday."
His departure comes after Munto Finance put the club up for sale and executive chairman Peter Trembling completed a buyout on Saturday.
Backe is close to County's Director of Football, Sven-Goran Eriksson, whose future at Meadow Lane has been questioned in recent weeks.
Mr Trembling told the Post this week that Eriksson's reputation would be crucial in attracting investment to Notts.
But the Post understands Eriksson will not be following Backe out of the club at the moment.
Trembling has expressed his disappointment at Backe's decision to resign as he talks to potential new investors following his takeover.
He said: "Sven and I are working round the clock on that and come the middle of January we could be in an extremely healthy position and not only back on track but maybe further down the line from where we expected to be.
"I am disappointed that Hans has not waited around for that to happen.
Asked about Eriksson's position at the club, Trembling added: "Sven is as before. I spoke to Sven before the buyout last week and he is on board and as keen as ever.
"I spoke to him again this morning and there is no change from that perspective.
"There are all sorts of rumours going around and all sorts of speculation and of course we want to get the investment in because when we do we can move on with our plans quicker.
"How can I say he's going to be here for the long term? Sven has got ambitions and we have got ambitions and as long as they are aligned then yes, absolutely he will be here."

“I love football, and i love it how Nottingham has 2 football teams, and i'm praying that it remains that way. If Notts don't gain promotion this year, then i can see them being in a LOT of trouble, especially financially. Even if you look at it from the players point of view, it will get to the point where the players wont be getting their wages because, they're too high, and the club simply can't afford it, that will only lead to the top players leaving the club, the loan signings probably wont want to come back too! i bet Kasper is on a higher wage than some players in League One, so he'll have to go, then there is Hawley, Hughes, Davies a few others who will follow.
I'm a Forest fan through and through, and ihave loved the banter between Forest and Notts fans recently, and i will have to say that a lot of the fans were realistic, and thought that County would be in the Championship in 5 years, not the Premier League, which i could see happening, but unfortunately not anymore. Although i do have to say that to those Notts fans who have gloated and especially the ones who jumped on the bang wagen, one word comes to mind, and thats KARMA!
I'd love for there to be a proper game between Notts County and Forest, not a pre-season friendly, a game that does mean something, because it'd be good, not only for the clubs, but the city as well. But i just can't see that happening if someone doesn't come into who has a relatively sized wallet, and who has a good business brain who can sort the club out.
I do honestly feel that if Forest and County meet it will have to be in a cup competition, unless both clubs are in the top flight, because i can see forest becoming an established Premier League side within 5 years, Stoke, Wigan, Fulham have all done it, why not Forest.
I do hope that all this rubbish is going be sorted out because Notts have become a joke, and its not making East Midlands, and especially Nottingham, football look very good.
And to those 5,000 or so that have jumped on the bang wagen, go back to supporting United, Chelsea or Arsenal, or probably City, Nottingham's football don't want you. (To be procise, the first home game at Notts was watched by 4325 people last season, and shot up to 9396, so 5044 people jumped on the bang wagen)”

“As a Forest fan I hope Notts survive and that Notts Rugby Club help them out with the rent. Will Notts change their badge? A good idea would be to go back to being the lambs. Yes lambs, the original name after a group of villains who terrorised victorian Nottingham! I believe the magpies are from the North East.”

“We should never have got rid of Charley in the first place!
So bring him back!
Or else put Keven and Jonson in perminant charge!
I don't know, unfortunately, how likely it is we'll get Charley back; he's settled now, all be it with Roy Keen at Ipswich; that could be a short show...
Munto didn't exactly cover themselves in glory; diching the Rugby club, sacking Charley ETC.
As for:
"Forest themself will be in the premier leagues!!!"
You are a hipocrit, Ben.
You have a go at us Notts fans for getting too big for our boots.
Yet you Forest Fans are doing exactly the same!
They say pride goes before a fall...
Nice to see that in amongst the usual nonsense from some Forest fans there are some who genuinely want us to survive.
And I think those who said we would walk the league, or walk to the premier league, were kidding themselves.
I will take the championship in 2012; our 150th aniversary.
"Really what the hell is going on with our club?"
Good question.
"i wish we never got took over now."
I don't think it's as bad as all that; before the takeover we were on the brink of administration and going nowhere.
There are some people going I think slightly over the top; saying we won't survive ETC.
I don't think it's as bad as all that.
"Should never have sacked McParland. he is a proper football man, with honesty and integrity."
Amaising!
In amongst the gloting elsewhere in that comment that Forest Fan made a sensible point!”

“"Forgive me if i am wrong but, did Forest not sack Ian McParland also........ "
Well you are wrong. Charlie had an argument with Calderwood in the tunnel after a game and then quit.
If you dont know your facts, you shouldnt speak.”

“As a Stags fan I get no pleasure in seeing Notts once again being dragged through the mire. Its a shame that can't be said of Some Notts Fans who had great delight in waving their £20 notes in the air - saying they would never have to play Mansfield again and the Premiership was beckonning.
At least we have three men in charge now who love our club and have its interests at heart - something that even now with another proposed takeover still cannot be said at Notts.
Good luck to you - after all you are the oldest club in the football league - thats guaranteed to get you out of most scrapes!!! or is it??”
