Well-known pub manager and former councillor dies
WELL-known pub manager and former councillor Graham Jackson has died.
Mr Jackson represented West Bridgford East on Notts County Council until losing his seat in 2005.
He then became well-known through working at Fellows, Morton and Clayton, in Canal Street, and latterly The Globe in London Road.
Mr Jackson, who was in his mid-50s, was found by his sister at their home in The Meadows yesterday afternoon, after he failed to open the pub.
Manager Cassie Jackson said he will be sorely missed by staff and regulars.
"He was always up for a drink and a bit of a laugh," she said.
Colleagues had noticed that Mr Jackson was looking ill in the days before his death.
Coun Alan Rhodes, leader of the Labour party for the county council, paid tribute to Mr Jackson on behalf of his colleagues.
"Obviously we are devastated," he said. "Graham Jackson was an excellent member of Nottinghamshire County Council."
For more tributes see Monday's Evening Post.

“DFS, Does death automatically bring respect?
He couldn't have been a very good Cllr or his electorate wouldn't have kicked him out.”
