Time to step it up at home – Clapham
The Magpies have lost their last three games at Meadow Lane, after going 11 games unbeaten on home soil.
The 2-1 defeat against Rochdale at the end of last month was their first home defeat since losing 1-0 to Lincoln City on March 11.
But they have since lost to Bury and league leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
Clapham insists they need to put that right in the FA Cup tie against Kettering Town on Sunday (1pm).
He said: "We want to put on a performance and get the home record going again. In the last few games it hasn't been great.
"It's a big game because it's an opportunity to generate a little bit of money for the club.
"They beat a league team to get here so it's not going to be an easy tie at all.
"We will be favourites but they have nothing to lose.
"We are looking to get through and be an underdog against one of the big clubs, so we have to make sure we are mentally right for it."
Clapham felt the Magpies improved against Wycombe, despite the 2-0 defeat.
But that does not soften the blow of losing for the fifth time in six league games.
"It was another loss but having lost 6-1 at Dagenham we were looking for some improvement and there was some," he said.
"But playing better does not make losing any easier.
"We played really well in the first half and there was no threat from them. Apart from the goal and the free-kick, they didn't cause us many problems.
"I just got the feeling we were a little bit vulnerable after the result at the weekend.
