Notts must be consistent says Jackson
And now the Magpies have to do it more consistently in the league, says midfielder Johnnie Jackson.
Statistics show they have struggled to win against teams in the top-half of League Two so far this season.
Of the ten games against teams in the top-12, they have won only twice, against Bradford City on the opening day of the season and Dagenham, also in August.
They have drawn fives times, against Burton, Rotherham, Shrewsbury, in Hans Backe's first game in charge, Bury and Aldershot, in their last home league game, although it has to be said they were terribly unlucky not to win against Burton, Rotherham and Aldershot.
And they have lost three times, against Chesterfield, Barnet and Rochdale.
It is clear they have to improve that record if the want to achieve promotion this season, with games against their rivals so critical to their ambitions of getting into League One.
Still, Jackson's confidence is unwavering.
The win against Bournemouth, ahead of a return to Dean Court on December 21 when three points and not a place in the third round of the FA Cup will be at stake, will only reinforce his self-belief.
He said: "We know we are capable of beating these sides. It's easy to say it, we need to go out and do it.
"We are creating chances and for long periods we are dominating games.
"We have to turn that into wins to have something to show for it."
Ahead of facing the league's bottom side Darlington at Meadow Lane tomorrow night, the Magpies are seventh in the League Two table, having only won once in eight league games, against Crewe, since the start of October.
Backe has masterminded two wins in the FA Cup, but none so far in four league games.
Jackson added: "Sooner, rather than later, we have to start winning games.
"The longer it goes on the more pressure there will be on us. We went a lot of games unbeaten before we lost to Rochdale but we were still seventh in the league because we drew too many games.
"You're better off winning one, losing one than drawing.
"We still feel we are playing well without picking up enough points.
"There would be more concern if we were paying really badly.
"The basis is there and we're doing the right things, we just need a bit of fine tuning here and there. We all believe we will start winning games soon enough."
That will be expected against Darlington.
Despite the Magpies being eight points behind Bournemouth, Jackson is understandably still aiming to win the title with 28 games of the season still left, though he admits a top-three finish is the top priority.
It is not only Jackson who wants to avoid the play-offs which can be so cruel and unpredictable.
He said: "If we were offered third now we'd take it because the important thing is promotion.
"It would be nice to top the league but the first aim has got to be to get into the top-three.
"If we can get in there hopefully we can start to build up a bit of a gap.
"We're seventh at the moment so we have got to earn the right to get into the top-three by winning games."
Notts switched from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 in the second half at Bournemouth and were a lot more effective, scoring twice through Lee Hughes and Craig Westcarr to win 2-1, after falling behind to a first half strike from Brett Pitman.
Jackson said the players are working hard to adapt to a playing a different system under Backe.
He said: "We're working a lot on tactical shapes since the new manager has come in.
"He's changed the shape and we have gone 4-3-3 in a lot of games.
"We've been working hard on getting that right to make sure we defend and attack how he wants us to. We will get there."
