Davies impressed with new-look strike force
New boy David McGoldrick put the Reds on their way to victory against Burton Albion on Saturday before a ten-minute hat-trick from Nathan Tyson sealed a 4-1 win.
Dele Adebola also impressed at the Pirelli Stadium while Robert Earnshaw also featured.
With Joe Garner still to come into the mix and another new striker – believed to be Dexter Blackstock – expected to arrive this week along with Radoslaw Majewski, manager Davies believes the fans can now see he has an array of attacking options at his disposal.
And after impressing down the left in the first half, Tyson displayed his talent as a central striker by banging in three goals after being switched at the interval.
He said: "Nathan has put in same great crosses from the left and that is a big asset for us when he plays out there. We switched him to the middle and he's got that pace and that threat that we need, so it is very good to have that option.
"You see that when Dele Adebola came on for the second half, the contribution he makes with his presence. It is something very different to Earny and Joe Garner.
"And there is David McGoldrick to add to that, so it is looking very good and I now have options.
"It is important about having the right mix and the right blend but also the freshness.
"We are getting close to that. We have a very good squad developing and it will still be developed in the next two or three weeks.
"I am certainly delighted with the manner in which we are moving forward and the competition. Between now and the start of the season we will hopefully get another couple in to fill the gaps we have got in the side."
Forest have now wrapped up a £1.75m deal for Tottenham's Chris Gunter and a £750,000 move for Preston midfielder Paul McKenna.
They will train for the first time with the Forest squad today and Davies is delighted to finally have them at the City Ground.
"They are very important and we have to continue with the development of this side," he said. "I have said all along that signing people like Gunter and McKenna only increases competition.
"Chris is a young lad with lots of ability and a great attitude.
"What McKenna will do is pull people around and help one or two."
