Burns: A new hero has arrived at Notts County
Just 48 hours after joining on loan from Scunthorpe, he bags a first half hat-trick at Barnet.
Now that is how to make an impression.
I am delighted for the lad and for Notts after a superb 4-0 win on the road.
Ian McParland would have been smiling with that inspired signing – and who can blame him.
For Notts, it is great news and will lift everybody at Meadow Lane.
Now, with everyone on a high, is the chance to really push on and move up that table.
Notts have always said they have the players to do it and on Saturday they proved it.
Forte could be the boost they really needed to move up a gear and is obviously a player who can finish.
But the problem they have is not getting too carried away by this result.
If they think it is going to be easy, they will get turned over and the 4-0 win will soon be forgotten.
McParland will not let that happen and, while they can enjoy this for a few days, they must build on it in their coming fixtures.
For now, though, Forte is the man everyone is talking about. And you could not blame McParland if he is already on the phone trying to extend the striker's loan until the end of the season.
