Stonish Hill, Bilsthorpe – currently the subject of a planning appeal – is one of the sites.
Others include Harworth in north Notts, the former coal stocking ground at Rufford and at Thoresby, both near Edwinstowe.
UK Coal said today that the agreement with Peel Energy would identify, assess and potentially develop wind farms on sites within UK Coal's land portfolio.
Jon Lloyd, chief executive of UK COAL, said: "We believe there is significant opportunity to develop wind farms on parts of our land portfolio.
"This will accelerate our alternative power business while maintaining flexibility on the level of investment we make in it and without distracting us from our core mining operations."
