Rescued St Bernards brought to Nottingham

Tuesday, December 02, 2008, 05:22

ANIMAL welfare inspectors rescued nearly 100 St Bernard dogs from kennels in Northants – and brought some to Notts.

RSPCA inspectors raided kennels near Corby, Northants, after officers received a tip-off from a concerned member of the public.

Two of the dogs were in such poor health that they later died at a nearby vets.

Around 50 of the dogs have been given temporary homes in private kennels in Notts.

The RSPCA has not released details of the locations. "We stepped in to ensure the dogs' welfare," said a spokesman. "It is rare to find so many animals abandoned together."
