IF parents need encouragement to teach their children to swim then young Kian Allsebrook provides it.

The eight-year-old from Aspley couldn't stand water three years ago but now he is a lifesaver.

Kian learned to swim at Beechdale pool. He dived into a swimming pool while on holiday and plucked out his three-year-old cousin who was in danger of drowning.

He has deservedly won an award. And the incident is a reminder what a difference swimming lessons can make.
