Notts welcomes first babies of 2009

HOSPITALS in Nottingham were echoing with the sound of new-born babies this morning.

The first babies of 2009 have been being delivered at the City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre.

Daniella Jackson and Luke Bedward, of Calverton, are thought to be the proud parents of the first baby born in Nottingham in 2009.

Baby girl Francesca Ray was born at City Hospital at 12.07am and his the couple's first child.

Proud mum Daniella, 31, said: "I'm ecstatic at the moment.

"I heard the chimes ringing out and was thinking Francesca was on her way.

"It is the perfect way to start 2009 and the best thing we could have wished for."

Francesca Ray weighed 7lb 7oz. She had been due to be born on December 20.

She was one of seven babies born at the City Hospital in the early hours of 2009.

A further six were welcomed into the world at the QMC.

The first to be born was baby girl, Ava Brooke Carrington Phillips, who arrived at 1.31am.

She weighed 8lb 8oz and is the proud baby of parents Debbie Carrington and Jamie Phillips, of Ruddington.
