Andy Hayter has toured 1,800 eateries with the accolade, which is seen as the yardstick for excellence in the food industry.
Of all the restaurants he has visited he believes Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, is about the best.
The average Michelin man clocks up 240 meals a year but Mr Hayter has sat down to more than 250.
He learned to cook in Nottingham in the 1980s before moving to London and becoming a computer executive.
It was shortly after that he visited Paris and decided to start a restaurant newsletter.
