THERE are number of courses people can access to try to lose weight, including:
Active For Life (YMCA) offers a free 12-week exercise and motivational support programme to help people become more active.
Slimming World, on referral, offers free 12-week attendance at a local Slimming World group for clients with a BMI of 30+.
Be Fit offers free gym access between 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm Monday to Saturday, at John Carroll, Victoria and Southglade leisure centres for those in receipt of certain benefits.
Ridewise (Cycling for Health) offers free cycle training sessions and organised group rides for people in Nottingham.
Best Foot Forward offers free, weekly, guided health walks, free, around various open spaces in the city.
Motivate offers a free 12-week weight management programme of exercise and nutritional advice aimed at men with a BMI of 30+, delivered by Notts County FC Football in the Community sports coaches.
Eatwell 4 Life supports people to change their eating habits in an interactive and rewarding way with free healthy eating courses throughout the city.
In addition, people can visit Decade of Better Health on www.decadeofbetterhealth. com, where they can make a pledge to lose weight (and tackle other health issues), and get more advice.
