GUY Moussi believes Nottingham Forest must maintain the same 'simple objectives' they have had since the start of the season if they are to earn a place in the Premiership.

The French midfielder admits promotion was not on the radar at the City Ground in the summer.

He says their only goal was to make themselves harder to beat – and to win more matches than they did last season.

And he insists that, by maintaining the same, straightforward focus, Forest can avoid putting themselves under pressure as they battle it out with Newcastle and West Brom for a top-two finish.

"It does drive you on; it does motivate you now that it (promotion) is within touching distance," said Moussi.

"But, at the same time, when we started the season we had simple objectives.

"We wanted to be stronger, we wanted to win more matches – and that has happened for us.

"We do not need to change those objectives, we do not need to change our attitude.

"We just need to keep going like that as we said we would at the start of the season."

Moussi says he has no idea what kind of points tally will be required to earn second place.

"For me, I just want to win every game. I don't know how many we will need to get promotion," he said.

"I do not sit down and look at the matches and say 'if we win here, here and here, we will be OK.'

"We just focus on working hard in training; we fight in every match and see what happens."

Moussi is encouraged by the five-point gap Forest have established over fourth-placed Swansea.

But he says the objective now is to get back to winning ways away from home.

"It is important to keep the gap between us now," he said.

"Before, our away form was very good. We have won a lot of times at home recently, so we have to keep that going.

"But, away from home, we have to show to everyone that we can play good football, but also that we can battle."
