Earnshaw: Forest have a lot to work at on training ground
The striker returned from a hamstring injury and scored a consolation goal against his old club as the Reds were sunk 3-1.
He said defeat would have been avoided if not for conceding poor goals. The 27-year-old said: "We are all annoyed, disappointed in how we went about it.
"At the end we did not have that cutting edge, that final ball into the box and on top of that we lost some silly goals.
"It is not nice because we could have done something about the goals we conceded and at the end of the day, if we did we might scrape a 1-0.
"They took their chances and that was the thing. There are things there to work on, that final ball and it is up to us to go away and work on those.
"The first goal was a tough one where it bobbled around and landed nice for him and that killed us straight from the off.
"We got back into the game, had a couple of half chances and then at the start of the second half we went 2-0 down and that was almost us dead and buried.
"The aim was to carry on and try to nick one but it did not happen and the third goal finished us off."
Earnshaw knows his goals will be vital as Forest look to retain their place in the Championship. He marked his return by scoring, his sixth in his last seven matches.
"It was nice to get the goal but the way the game panned out was horrible, not a nice feeling," he added. "You spend three weeks out and get straight into a huge game so it is going to effect you. I am not 100% match-fit but I am close to it.
"It will take me a couple of games and I tried to be an influence on the team and hopefully we can bounce back from this."
