Chambers: Training ground work pays off for Forest

Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 07:21

NOTTINGHAM Forest's Luke Chambers believes the hard-earned point at high-flying Sheffield United is testament to the hard work they have been putting in on the training pitch.

Despite having Kelvin Wilson sent off early on, the Reds rallied with ten men and earned a 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane yesterday.

And Chambers, who was recalled at right back for the match, said: "We have practiced the last two weeks on our defensive duties.

"We have worked on defending all week so to come and get a clean sheet is credit to the work the boys have been putting in during training and in the game. Everyone is delighted.

"We started brightly with 11 men and we were breaking but it was then backs against the wall time and we defended really well.

"We knew we had every chance of coming here and beating them. We had a setback going down to ten men but the boys were fantastic. To keep a clean sheet with ten men, we are flying high.."

Chambers was delighted to be back in the side and now wants to play his part in saving Forest in the last three games.

He added: "I want to play all the time but the gaffer picks his side to do the business in each game. It is good to come back in and as a defender get a clean sheet.

"We have got something and although it is not the three points we wanted, we have shown we are a really good side and can compete with teams at the top of the league."
