I filmed 'UFO'
A MAN has captured video footage of a "UFO" hovering near his house.
Jewels Mellors, of Hey Street, Sawley, and his wife, Helen, saw a bright orange circle in the night sky on December 30. It appeared again two hours later and then again the following night.
He said it moved slowly but there was no sound or flashing, as there would be with an aeroplane.
And he was puzzled to explain the object.
"When it first appeared we had a couple of friends round and they were outside having a cigarette and they called us and said there was a light," said Jewels, 36, who works for Acclaim Upholstery, in Long Eaton.
"There was no sound. It was just an orange light with a halo around it.
"Then on New Year's Eve at about 7pm to 8pm I was looking out of the window and it was directly opposite us and passed right over our heads.
"I said 'this is weird, I'm going to charge my video camera in case we see it again.'
"Then at midnight we were looking out at the fireworks and my wife said 'Oh my God, it's there again.'
"So I rushed upstairs and got my video and recorded it.
"It is an object that can't be identified, so to me it is a UFO.
"I'm not saying what it was but I couldn't identify it."
Sarah Nixon also reported seeing a strange orange object in the sky on New Year's Eve, while looking at the sky outside her partner's house in Aberford Avenue, Whitemoor. "There were four orange dots all in a line. They were too close to be planes," she said.
"I was in the back garden and they appeared from the back of the house roof in the distance, looking towards Long Eaton.
"They were quite high up. I shouted my fella and we were amazed looking at them.
"It's weird when you say UFO but it was nothing I have ever seen before."

“I looked out of my window in new years to watch the fireworks and saw the red glowing spheres in the sky. There were about six of them spread out and travelling quite fast, then some more came and after about 15 minutes I stopped watching as I had lost count how many there were. I guess somewhere in the region of 50 of these red glowing balls spread across a large area of sky during that time.”

“I saw an orange glow - a bit like a small bedside lamp or hot air balloon at about 8 p.m. on Christmas Day. It appeared from the East and flew at about 5,000 feet without any sound towards the West at about the speed of a light plane. There were smaller lights around the base of it. Weird”
