In March, The Duchess Theatre, Long Eaton will welcome Erewash Musical Society's Production of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.
Voted best musical of the 20th Century by Time Magazine, 'Carousel' features the immortal songs "You'll Never Walk Alone", "If I Loved You", and the joyful "June Is Bustin' Out All Over"
The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. When he is fired from the carousel, the now married Billy is encouraged by his ne'er do well whaler friend Jigger, into attempting a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child.
When things go drastically wrong, Billy is given a second chance to make things right with his family, some 15 years later. A secondary story line deals with millworker Carrie Pipperidge and her romance with ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow.
Experience EMS performers Dan Bates (Billy), Tracey Renshaw (Julie), Mark Birch(Enoch) and Cheryl Mills (Nettie) will be accompanied on stage by talented newcomers Lauren-Rose Stirland as Carrie and Hattie Kemish as Louise.
This traditional musical features some of the most powerful music ever written and tells the story of true love and the tragedy of feelings left unspoken.
Following last year's critically acclaimed contemporary productions of 'Our House' and 'Chess', Erewash Musical Society's revival of this classic is sure to be a real treat.
Erewash Musical Society's production of Carousel will be performed at The Duchess Theatre, West Gate, Long Eaton
