“I remember the earthquake - I was writing a school exam at the time. I can't remember a plane crash though.”

“I remember one in the 50's on St Albans Road in Bulwell but have searched the web extensively and can't find any mention of one in Stapleford”

“Earthquakes are felt over a wide area, so the one in Bulwell would have been felt in other areas too.”

“There was also an air crash over Colwick in the late 1950's. Two RAF jet Provost training aircraft collided and bits rained down over Colwick. Both trainee pilots and instructors died, I believe a woman died either in the Coop in Carlton or was it in the Spray & Burgess factory in Colwick, hit by debris. I was then in St Johns Junior school in Vale Road Colwick. The crash happened during a playtime break and we watched it happened. An engine from one of the aircraft landed between two of the tall terraced houses on Vale Road.
