Notts' victory hopes hit by weather

Friday, July 03, 2009, 13:45

Nottinghamshire's chances of securing victory against Lancashire today have been hit by the weather.

Lancashire were due to resume on the final day of their County Championship match 22-1, needing another 371 to win.

Notts were confident they could get all nine wickets but the heavy rain has meant no play so far.

A new drainage system at Trent Bridge means if it eases, there could still be some play today.

But with dark clouds still looming overhead, a draw looks the most likely outcome for Mick Newell's men.
