The cost of police operations
OPERATION Rendition cost £1.5m and was one of the biggest manhunts in British history, involving more than 450 officers.
Terry Rodgers had fled into a 2.5-sq km area of woodland near Annesley Woodhouse after shooting dead his daughter Chanel Taylor, 23, in her home in Huthwaite on July 30, 2004.
Days earlier, Robert Boyer, another killer, had gone on the run and was hiding in the same area.
Notts Police began a joint search after intelligence suggested both men were in the woods.
Rogers was finally found on August 16, 2004, the day after Boyer had been located.
Meanwhile, the Post reported in October last year how the trial of drugs general Gary Hardy at Nottingham Crown Court cost at least £263,000.
Barrister fees were £231,280, while police revealed it cost £32,410 to deploy firearms officers throughout the ten-week trial last year.
