the old malt cross opened 1983 by two dedicated people, closed down in 1987 for no reason whatsoever

the old malt cross was reopened in 1983 by two dedicated people after it had been shut down in 1912, because of the ruffians and prostitutes that frequented it,and those shut down in 1987 for no plausible reason.

A Cafe/Bar in an old Victorian Music Hall, one of the best examples of its kind in England, with a mezzanine stage and beautiful glass roof

    A really friendly bar

“The Malt Cross is my favourite place to meet with friends for a quiet drink. It's got a brilliant, unique feel to it thanks to the old music hall architecture. They do great hot drinks and, finally, have got a couple of real ale taps too. The food is good, though you can end up waiting a while if you order when it's busy. It's as far removed from the city's 'binge' culture as you could hope to get. ”

    The games are great too!

“This is a great pub in the city centre. Really traditional and often feels like your local, while being big enough to accommodate a lot of people. The atrium upstairs is really unique and downstairs they even have a selection of board games and books for you to borrow.Once played a rather brilliant game of Connect four here!”

    Drinking in style

“This is such a brilliant bar in Nottingham. The former music hall has a big old balcony with seating on the top floor while downstairs is littered with tables and chairs, creating a friendly and slightly haphazard atmosphere. It also has some great live music events on like Oxjam, which supports local artists.”

    Quality hot choc

“The Malt Cross does a great hot chocolate complete with Malteasers and also does a cake and tea deal for £3.50 - the carrot cake was tasty. Good range of interesting beers regulary changed and a fun Monday night quiz. Popular with students.”

Nice pub/cafe in a great building

“The Malt Cross is a really unusual pub, set in an old music hall. The nature of the building means it can feel slightly cavernous and empty at times during the day but it's usually very popular at weekends. Great cakes and coffee, and a really nice place to chill out in the middle of a busy day's shopping.”

    Great day and night

“Maltcross is situated in an awesome old building with a balcony that surrounds. It has a great atmosphere and good selection of drinks. It's relaxing in the day time for a coffee or lunch and has a lively buzz in the evenings. They often have musicians to entertain while you booze the night away.”

    Great evening out

“Malt Cross is great to start off your evening, and perhaps stay there for one more! With booths big enough for all your friends, you'll not want to move on in a hurry. Get there early for their white hot chocolates, before all the malteasers run out! ”
