“ I went to Cafe Zing a few months ago, before the new owner took over and thought it was alright, nothing really that special. I have been back several times since under new management and have been delighted each time. The new look has transformed the cafe, it is clean and bright and welcoming. The food we have ordered was wonderful also, each meal has been fresh and very tasty. I am very happy to say that I will be going back to Cafe Zing very often. ”

“Hi All. As you can see, our site on the Thisisnottingham and LongEatonPeople has been updated with lots of features. Many thanks to the IT team at these 2 establishments for their assistance and hard work. The Cafe is now setteling onto a routine where we can see what items are popular and what are not. This has prompted a recent menu change of content and a new look to the menu its self. Come and take a look and then add your comment to this site so that we can continue to improve. See you here. “Kemit 2000, I can assure you that myself and my mum (who had driven 100 miles and was well ready for her lunch) were BOTH very unhappy AND we did raise it with staff who agreed it didn't even look like a lasagne!!!. Normally we would have just accepted it but as we would have needed a spoon to even eat it we decided to send it back. It was also the reaction of the staff that was not particularly professional. When we complained, we were not even offered something else off the menu. You would have thought the standard reply would be "can I get you something else?" . We would have probably gone for an alternative panini and the chance to put things right would have been made. But as were told to "just pay for your drinks", and then the girl at the counter said " are you paying for the lasagnes then".... unbelievable. So after sitting and waiting, we ended up with no lunch and ended up grabbing a baguette from Greggs as we were short on time. So apologies if I upset you Kermit2000, but I am not one to "post away" and have a grumble for no reason. As I previously said I have been going there for 12 years and have always loved it, recommended it to everyone and had some great lunches. I think if you had been served up and then treated like we were you wouldn't have been happy either. ”

“I have to disagree with brummie girl. I know we at entitled to our opinion but. I have eaten there before and after the change over ownership and the new owners have made such a difference. The quality of the food is outstanding prepared by a trained chef ( see the trophy on the counter and the picture on the wall) . Out of common courtesy you should have given the Owner he opportunity to resolve your issue who's you where there. I think on a high street that is populated by the big names and small independent business shouldn't be knocked for opening up and trying to offer something different. If you had raised you concern and the owners hadn't do anything then post away on he net.
I have eaten breakfast, lunch and a few of the specials and they have been very good. Give it a go people.”

“I'm very sorry to read of Brummie girl's review of my cafe and that your favourite Panini is no longer on the menu. Some changes had to be made and will be made again when I review menu content after a few weeks of trading. Who knows, Cajun Chicken Panini may get a reprieve later in the year. As for the Lasagne, I'm sorry it wasn't to your liking. I assure you that this is the only adverse comment that I have received regarding the Lasagne and believe me when I say that I have been asking for and receiving feedback, all of which, including Brummie Girls, is taken on board. Let me conclude by saying that if there is a problem with your meal, drink, service or anything else at Cafe Zing, I would be happy to sort it at the time and therefore make your experience of my Cafe a good one. Please try us again and you won't be disappointed. Malcolm”

“I have to say how disappointed I was when I came in this week. Having being a regular visitor to Cafe Zing since it first opened, have always looked forward to the delicious paninis and that I loved, or a nice helping of Lasagne. However, this was my first time in since it has been taken over and first impressions were fine, until I opened the menu and my favourite panini of them all was gone. Never mind, I thought, I'll have the lasagne. Big mistake. What seemed like quite a wait, arrived a good plateful of food, a dish of lasagne, side salad and garlic ciabatta. Looked really really nice. That was until I put my fork in to what I can only describe as a dish of slop with grilled cheese on the top. There were a couple of lasagne sheets floating quite near to the top, with the odd strand of chewy mince beef, and then some sort of tasteless sauce which was absolutely awful. I have never ever tasted a lasagne so bad. I'm sure the Asda Smart Price would have had more flavour and actually resembled a lasagne. So, for something that is supposed to be freshly made on the premises, I would firstly say give your staff a lesson in making a lasagne properly. It is not a patch on the previous owners, I know it was not not freshly made as you wait, but I personally would rather have something that tastes good than a fresh serving of slop. I left the cafe quite gutted, knowing that after all these years I will never come back. What a let down. RIP the Cajun Chicken Panini :0(”

“I'm the new owner proprietor of Cafe Zing, taking over during the New Year period and opened for service on Tuesday 2nd January 2013. The menu is new with meals being prepared freshly when ordered, no bought in meals or convenience microwave meals in my kitchen. You may have to wait a little longer for you meal but it is cooked to order especially for you. The decor has changed and the lighting has been improved.
If you haven't yet tried us, come and see what you think and then let us and others know by posting here .
We look forward to serving you at our lovely Cafe. I'll give us a 5 star rating because we've worked hard to please you.”

“Stepped foot in this establishment only once on reading in a local rag how the simple folk of Long Eaton had voted this the best Café, and was disappointed by what I saw.
In my opinion it’s more on the lines of a transport café and only a few cake crumbs short from being a greasy spoon. no problems with the coffee that I and my partner had, at least I think we drank coffee.
Anyway an uncomplicated establishment with its loyal if not dysfunctional clientele and buried business potential.

“When I first started seeing my husband before we married, we used to have Saturday lunch quite often at Cafe Zing. They did great baguettes with yummy fillings in them as well as lots of hot lunches. The coffee was always good too. I shall have to visit one day and relive those courting days! Hope it is still as good!”
