A builder's view
LOCAL builder Earl Dennis, of Earl's Home Improvements, assessed the Sneinton property for the Evening Post.
"One of the first things I look at is the state of the electrics. In this property the electrics are out of date. The general condition of the place is you would gut it.
"There is woodworm in certain areas and there is rising damp in the downstairs room. I would recommend replacing all the doors.
"To redecorate the property you are looking at £4,000. You would have to send a clean-up crew in before people would work in those conditions.
"The downstairs toilet needs replacing and the upstairs bathroom needs refurbishing. The kitchen needs to be taken out.
"There is the need for two skips and a couple of days' labour to remove all the rubbish. I would say there has been some redecoration in the last 40 years but whoever had the property before did not look after it. I don't think the council should let it in that condition.
"The total cost would be about £14,000."
