“ The Castle can be seen from miles away and it is Nottingham's best known landmark (apart from maybe the Lions outside the Council House). Well worth a visit, the Castle grounds are beautiful and it always has plenty of exhibitions on. There are often some interesting art pieces, a lot of historic artefacts and bits and bobs. ”

“I appreciate that the Castle has had its moments in history, and doesn't really look much like a castle any more, but it's reputation still attracts it's visitors, as well as touring exhibitions. The grounds are nice to take a stroll in too, with some great views of Nottingham, and it takes you away from the busy city centre in which it's located by it's high walls and natural surroundings. ”

“There are some great things about the castle, but always end up feeling a bit let down after a visit. The grounds are great, as is the cafe, and the views from the top of the castle rock are spectacular - but the castle itself is a bit lacking.
The exhibitions look tired and outdated, and the interior is really dark and oppressive. Once you've been round once you don't really need to go again so it would be much better if you could get in to the gardens for free, and just pay to enter the castle itself. I begrudge paying the entrance fee when all I really want to do is walk around the grounds.”

“location in Nottingham city centre! Lovely grounds to walk around and panoramic views over the city from the walled area above. Nice picnic area. The museum and gallery are good, but maybe not suitable if toddlers. Lovely cafe and shops for souvenirs. If you live or work in Nottingham, access to the grounds is free, just take some ID!”

“The castle gallery is a great afternoon out. It has an impressive permanent collection and continously changing visiting exhibitions. From painting to Photography and illustration, the work is presented excellently and all set in the castle itself. Wander around the castle grounds to finish off your cultural day. Highly recommended.”
