WREXHAM manager Dean Saunders revealed a bang on the head for Mike Williams may have saved him a few quid after his side's 2-1 win over Mansfield.

The boss said he would give his central defender a monetary prize if he scored and was thrilled to see the player head home an equaliser from a right-wing corner.

The Red Dragons went on to secure the points when Williams' brother Marc netted in the second half.

But because of the knock, Saunders reckons his man couldn't recall the terms of their agreement.

"Mike's got a bit of concussion and I have had a right result because I said I would give him 25 quid if he scored and he did, but he can't remember it!" he said.

"We dug in after conceding first and scored a goal from a corner that we have been working on in training and then scored again through Marc.

"We had to show our battling qualities because I thought Mansfield really had a go," sadded Saunders

"Some of our lads have not been in a battle like that before, the other side of football.. I wanted to see of they were capable of doing it and they did.

"We hung in at the end which was pleasing. They had four men up front and bombed it up.

"But if they keep giving me that effort then I will look after them."
