World boxing champ Carl Froch's City Ground hero's welcome
The City Ground erupted seconds before kick off tonight as newly crowned boxing world champion Carl Froch took to the pitch to parade his belt.
The Nottingham fighter and Forest season ticket holder won the vacant WBC super-middleweight title in a pulsating fight against Canadian Jean Pascal on Saturday night at the Trent FM Arena.

And to honour his achievement, he was paraded before the big match against Sheffield United tonight.
After the Forest and Sheffield United players came out and lined up on the pitch, Froch was introduced to the crowd and emerged with the belt held aloft over his head.
It brought everyone to their feet to give the boxing superstar a standing ovation and lift the crowd ahead of a crucial Championship match.

“Personally I don't believe this kind of story deserves the attention that is being lavished upon it. Most people would agree that boxing is a barbaric sport created to appeal to the masses.”
