Woman 'died after being given morphine before hospital scan'
A MOTHER of four died after she was taken to hospital with a severe headache, an inquest heard.
Louise McKenzie was found to have stopped breathing following a scan at King's Mill Hospital.
Nottingham Coroner's Court heard how the 28-year-old had been in Nottingham visiting her grandparents and friends.
Mrs McKenzie, originally from Hucknall, had gone out with an old school friend.
The inquest heard the pair had taken one-and-a-half tablets of ecstasy, bought from a dealer at Cucamara in the city centre before going to Rock City.
The next day, on August 4, 2007, Mrs McKenzie complained of extreme headache pain, and went to her grandparents' house in Hucknall who called a paramedic.
She was taken by ambulance to King's Mill Hospital where she was given a CT scan.
She had been left alone for a few minutes after the scan and when the radiographer went in to move her to do another scan she had stopped breathing, the inquest heard.
The radiographer then called for help.
There was a period of 11 minutes between the scan being done and a call to the emergency 'crash' team being made.
Mrs McKenzie of Gilwern, Gwent, in Wales, had been given three doses of morphine before the scan, but no one stayed with her after the final dose was given to monitor her before the scan was done.
She was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre and pronounced dead on August 5.
