Witnesses sought following burglary and suspected arson in Heanor

Witnesses are being sought following a burglary at a hair salon and a suspected arson.

A stolen Fiat Punto was set alight in a former car park oat the back of Rays Arms pub, in Ray Street, Heanor, at about 5am on Sunday.

Police believe the fire was started deliberately.

The car is thought to have been stolen from Digby Street, Ilkeston between 6pm on Friday, February 1 and 1.30pm on the next day.

A burglary took place at a nearby hair salon between 4.30pm on Saturday, February 2 and 9.30am on Sunday, February 3.

Cash and hair products were stolen from Another Notion salon in Derby Road, Ilkeston.

There was also a third attempted burglary at Halo Hair and Beauty, in Ray Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson and burglary.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police would like to speak to anyone with any information about the burglary or the car fire.
