OLIVER Wilson plays his last warm-up tournament for the US Masters when he tees up today in the WGC–CA Championship in Doral, Miami.

The Coxmoor attached professional finished tied 17th in the Honda Classic last week and, in the process, moved to 36th on the World Rankings.

However, since turning professional six years ago, he has still not won a tournament – and that is now becoming a monkey on his back.

He said: "At the end of the day, the reason we play is to win. So winning tournaments is always going to be right at the top.

"But having said that, I can't do anything about that other than keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully it will work out pretty soon.

"Maybe this week will be the one. I've been in the top-50 on the rankings now for 18 months or more and I feel comfortable with that."

Wilson has been pacing himself this season with the Majors in mind.

He said: "These big tournaments take a lot out of you mentally.

"I realised that last year and I decided to have two months off over Christmas.

"I feel fresher this year than I've ever felt, and that has really made a big difference. I'm now just starting to feel a little bit more tired and I can tell the body is not as fresh as it was.

"I'm going on holiday after Doral as I want to be fresh when I play at Augusta."

Only two players from the world's top 50 will be missing at Doral, Tiger Woods and Japanese sensation Ryo Ishikawa, who will be graduating from his high school, Suginami Gakuin, in Japan next week.

Following another top ten finish, this time in the Honda, Notts' Lee Westwood leads a host of Europeans who will be chasing this title.

And, after Ian Poulter's magnificent victory at the last World Golf Championship event, the Europeans are primed for another attempt to conquer America.

Poulter beat fellow Englishman Paul Casey at the WGC–Accenture Match Play.

Joining that in-form trio from Europe are Martin Kaymer , Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Henrik Stenson and Sergio Garcia, along with South Africans Retief Goosen and Ernie Els, who are also regulars on the European Tour.
