THE Brackenhurst Wildlife Watch Group has gained a "Commended" award in the National Wildlife Watch Group of the Year Awards 2009.

The Wildlife Trusts' annual award celebrates the achievements of watch groups.

Brackenhurst Watch Group, which also won an award in 2008, meets every month at the Brackenhurst College Campus of Nottingham Trent University, using the Environmental Education Centre.

The children and leaders celebrated their success last weekend, when they received a certificate signed by vice-president of The Wildlife Trusts, TV presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham.

It was presented by John Everitt, chief executive for Notts Wildlife Trust.
