Wet weekend ahead for Nottingham as Met Office issues severe weather warning for rain
Rain and high winds are set to batter parts of Notts this weekend.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the area, effective from midnight on Saturday until midnight on Sunday.
Around 20-30mm of rain is expected to fall across the period, and winds could reach speeds of up to 40-50mph.
Dan Williams, spokesman for the Met Office, said although the weekend would start fairly settled, an area of low pressure pushing up from the south of the country would bring wind and rain with it.

He added: "This will last for a while, throughout the evening and into the night and winds will pick up.
"It will still be raining by early Sunday morning, but by midday the rain will have moved away.
He warned of the possibility of floods, adding: "The fact we have had so much rain already on top of a wet summer, and that the ground is saturated, it does not take much to push us over the edge."
The top temperature on Saturday and Sunday will be eight degrees C, dropping to six and five at night.
