Westwood to nurture future stars
A PLACE at the world famous Mill Hill School could be the reward for junior golfers attending the Lee Westwood Academies.
The Worksop Ryder Cup star has teamed up with Activate Sport to host nine golf academies for seven to 16-year-olds across the UK this summer.

Mill Hill is one of the few schools in England to offer golf tuition as part of its sports curriculum.
The academies will be launched on February 5 at The Belfry. Morley Hayes has been announced as the venue for Notts juniors.
Mill Hill School is less than ten miles from central London and is considered one of the country's top co-educational day and boarding schools.
Its golf academy director, Dean Halford, will be watching the academy players with a view to considering them for a golf scholarship at the school.
The overall winner from each academy course will win one day playing golf with Westwood at Lindrick Golf Club on August 31.
The coaching programme, which has been put together by Westwood himself, will cover every aspect of the game over the three-day courses.
There will also be 'off-course' sessions including etiquette, rules, marking your card, nutrition, fitness and psychology, although some sessions will not be suitable for the youngest age groups.
It is planned that there will be one coach for every eight juniors.
Each junior will also take away a feedback form which will give them a breakdown of their strengths and the areas they need to work on.
And there will be a competitive element to the courses with juniors playing in a series of competitions on and off the course covering every aspect of the game.
There will be competitions for different age groups, and many other prizes so the juniors enjoy the experience regardless of how well they do.
Westwood himself took up the game at the age of 13 after his grandparents bought him a half set of clubs.
Less than two years later he was crowned junior champion of his home county of Nottinghamshire.
He won his first amateur event in 1990, and turned professional in 1993 after winning the British Youth Championship.
During his successful professional career, he has won 18 events on the European Tour and has also won tournaments in America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
His official World Ranking peaked at fourth.
And in 2000 he won seven tournaments across the world, and was ranked first on the European Order of Merit, ending Colin Montgomerie's seven-year run of European Tour dominance.
The academies will be hosted in partnership with The Co-Operative.
