West Bridgfordans secure promotion in Division C by beating rivals Wilsons.
WEST Bridgfordians secured promotion in Division C by beating rivals Wilsons. It didn't look too good at tea though as, minus Henry Straw, the visitors were bowled out for only 102 with Imran Shahid taking 6-35.
However, it was a bowler-friendly track at Regatta Way with Wilsons collapsing to 62 all out with Aiden Bell grabbing four victims and Kushal Shah three, adding to his 31 in the tail.
Bottesford suffered their third relegation in five seasons. Visitors Keyworth made 191 as Steve Rendu and Rob Baker fired half centuries. The pair then took three wickets each as the losers, who had Alistair Cuplin taking six wickets earlier in the day, were bowled out for 109.
Kimberley are almost safe and they cruised past Attenborough II (142) with some to spare thanks to 56 from Ryan Buckley and 48 from Craig Pitts.
Earlier, leg spinner Matt Ross had grabbed four wickets, while Ian Wright's 16 overs yielded a return of 3-20.
The fall from grace of Gedling Colliery II (128) is astonishing. At the half way stage they led the table but a dismal run has now seen them slip into the third possible relegation spot.
Home team Wollaton II piled on the agony, racking up 245 with Sunil Sharma contributing 75 and Sunil Shrestha 44 not out.
After the interval Shrestha's brother Suman (6-58) ripped out the heart of Gedling's batting.
Hoveringham clinched the Division D title, making it an incredible eight successive promotions. The winners bowled out Newark for only 101 and knocked the runs off in 18 overs with Richard Coleman (57*) and Ben Lee (44*) in form. Newark are now relegated.
Thurgarton wrapped up the runners-up slot, defeating relegated Fiskerton (158) by 58 runs. The heroes on the day were Colin Cliff (47), Chris Dutton (43 and 3-2) and Tim Kirkham (4-30).
That result was academic as third-placed Thrumpton (159) slipped up at Bramcote (204), who stayed up as a result of this unlikely victory.
Kevin Lovelock and James Crookes both hit fifties for the home side, while the consistent Mark Spibey took 4-51.
For the third time in four seasons, Willoughby won to stay up on the last day of the season. The bowlers did their job by dismissing Southwell II for 116 with Lee Hamilton (7-26) excelling.
The run chase was a nervy affair but thanks to 56 from Scott Smith, Willoughby got home with four wickets left.
Hickling only had ten men at Risley and put in an abject display which saw them finish third from bottom.
The day belonged to Risley's Matt Shaw, who took a brilliant 8-29. Not satisfied with that, he ran out the other batsman to be involved in all the dismissals.
Chasing 122 to win, Alex Fitchett (54) and Marc Addison (43*) ensured a comfortable win.
Nuthall added the title to promotion in Division E with a 39-run victory at Caythorpe III (160). This was a feat made even more remarkable by the fact that Nuthall played with only eight men.
Tom Buckley (93*) and Rod Sanders (33 & 4-39) played a prominent part in the victory.
West Bridgfordians had to settle for runners-up following a heavy loss at Hucknall II, while Farndon's 109-run at Ellerslie II (113) enabled them to finish fourth and suggest another promotion push next season, especially if Andrew Duckmanton (95*) can continue crashing the ball to all parts.
At the wrong end of the table, Kirkby Portland II join Eastwood II in Division F after losing to Underwood, while Stanton-by-Dale's win at home to Eastwood II (97) will not be enough to save them should three teams go down.
