Villa defender Shorey still a target insists Forest boss Davies
NOTTINGHAM Forest have not given up hope over signing Nicky Shorey, Billy Davies insisted today.
The Aston Villa defender has said he is willing to be patient, in an effort to earn a move to a Premiership club.

Nicky Shorey
But Reds boss Davies says he is happy to play the waiting game in an effort to land the former England international.
"I hope to manage Real Madrid one day," said Davies. "Whether that happens is a different argument.
"If Nicky Shorey does not get a Premier Division club and there is a possibility that we can do something; if there is a possibility that he could still become available, either on loan or permanently – then until that door closes on us, he remains an option.
"He is one of several players that I have recommended for that position."
Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a £350k bid from Forest for 30-year-old winger Jermaine Johnson.
But that does not mean they have lost interest in Cardiff's Peter Whittingham.
"If we want the play-offs, we need three to five stellar signings," said Davies. "It would be unfair for me to discuss players on that wish list.
"We should be signing players up and then discussing them."

“Robin of Loxley
Thought your view of the game was fair but individual player comments a bit unjust.
For me I thought The MOOOOOOuse did well considering he was virtually holding the centre of mid on his own. He was virtually the only player constantly looking to get on the ball. Accept there were a couple of stray passes but overall I think he was one of the better players.
I, presumably like you rate Thornhill but fear he will not get a run in the team with the established player to prove himself.
Enjoyed the game but feel we need to compact the midfield as The MOOOOuse cannot do it all on his own. Did you notice how deep Earnshaw was dropping back to help out.”

“Just back from Match,
Well Well Well, considering that we had missing Camp, McKenna, Wilson & Morgan , we did well enough to contain them, but when they wen't one nill up within 10 mins I did think the flood gates would open, Lyon gave the impression they were a class above (which they were) and that they could step it up whenever they wanted two..
The Referee was absolutly aweful, two definate penalties ignored, he gave us a free kick after Jules tripped over his own feet, and then gave Lyon a free kick when he couldn't possible have seen it as he was facing the wrong direction.
I thought the Moose had an aweful match, Dele although he scored should never be 1st choice, and why Smith played i don't know.
"nd half started a bit better, but it wasn't untill all the youngsters came on that we stopped passing backwards, and looked to move the ball forward every chance we got. Thornhill at the centre of everything we did , and Darlow in goal, was far better than Smith.
All in all a fair result, and the nmatch did it's job, the French kept posession well and ran us ragged which upped the firness levels.
Time will tell, and i know we had 4 1st team regulars missing but if we play like that against burnley they will beat us and so will Leeds.
Must try Harder”
