Views wanted on Forest Rec redevelopment
PEOPLE are being asked for their views on how sports facilities at a recreation ground can be improved as part of a £5.1 million scheme.
Nottingham City Council, along with the Castle Cavendish Foundation, Friends of the Forest and the Partnership Council, has secured the funding to help redevelop the Forest Recreation Ground in Forest Fields.

The funding includes £3.2 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund and £1.9 million from Nottingham City Council, Castle Cavendish Foundation and local development contributions.
However the funding has mainly been awarded to restore the grounds – and will only allow for a small amount of refurbishment of sport changing facilities at the site.
The organisations behind the restoration project say they are keen to do more than restore the changing facilities, and are launching a consultation campaign to find out what people want and their ideas for how the Sports Zone at the site could look and be funded in the future.
The community consultation, which will include talking to over 100 sports clubs in the city, will be led by the Radford-based Partnership Council charity.
Councillor David Trimble, Nottingham City Council's portfolio holder for leisure, culture and tourism, said: "Our ambitious restoration plans for The Forest Recreation ground are acting as a catalyst to renewing the recreation facilities in the Sports Zone which are currently in a poor state of repair.
"We are exploring a number of ways in which we can secure the necessary funding required to transform the Sports Zone and ensure its ongoing maintenance. We're keen to hear what sort of facilities people would like to see there so that we can factor the ideas into our plans."
For more information, or to take part in the consultation, visit www.partnershipcouncil.co.uk or call Ruth Greenberg on 0115 9708200.

Check out the last two, a current Cllr and a previous director of Nottingham City Homes ???
This project should be monitored as to where the 5.1 million is going and which firms as the charity merged with the Partnership a few years ago ?
Nice jobs if you can get them.”

“My previous comment has been red arrowed but either the person cannot summon up a sensible argument to my post or the website hasn't authorised it.”

“I recall previous policy was to concrete-over Mansfield Road end & build a multy-million £ sports center to their own glory.”

“and is it also true that the council will spend most of the awarded money just by talking about what they might do with it ?”

“sounds really exciting, perhaps we could have a breakdown of where the 5.1 million is going ? ie mainly to restore the grounds is a little vague?
i must say i like the partners involved,
"and £1.9 million from Nottingham City Council, Castle Cavendish Foundation and local development contributions." hmm castle cavendish foundation ? arent they the people behind the 52 million that disappeared up the alfreton road ? just run it past me again as to how much they are contributing because i missed it the first time,at the end of the day the council told us transparency is the best policy”

“MiRRv,
The council NEEDS to put its multi million pound oar in. How else can it divert ratepayer funds into the hands of favoured groups/supporters/social engineering projects on which it depends for so many votes?”

“do people still bowl there? if not then that can bit go. skatepark maybe? a proper one, not the typical mini ramp that gets burnt down in 2 weeks
otherwise
new goal posts. that is all. its fine as it is, seems the only people who think it needs changing is people who occasionally see it out a car window. summer comes and its heaving from midday til nighttime. people having fun? relaxing? but how can this be without the council having stuck its multi million pound oar in? we dont have to have a nottingham city council stamp on everything for it to "benefit the community"...”

“They should knock down the rest of the old defunct buildings opposite the ice arena and open up the work they have done on sneinton market...god that place
Is depressing when you drive by...burnt out market buildings and empty kebab shops.
If I owned a burnt out shell of a building I wonder if Nottingham city council would demand I knock it down for health and safety reasons?.??
Nothing wrong with the forest ...leave it be.”

“@S_Bassoon: In which case that is a ridiculous idea, I think the deleted post (the one that was filled with moronic prejudices about Muslims) was over the top but I'm sure there are enough Mosques already. Why cover open green public space, which is going to become more of a valued commodity as populations grow, with something which we already have plenty of: a place of worship only really accessible by those who are 'members'. Just in case you're wondering I would object to any kind of religious building, or any other building, being built there. It already serves the whole of the community as it is.”
