RICHARD Brodie is hoping York's win at Mansfield will re-ignite their play-off push.

Courtney Pitt's second half strike gave the Minstermen their first win in eight games.

And Brodie, the Blue Square Premier's top scorer, feels it can give York the momentum to go on and clinch a place in the top five.

"It is a massive result for us, especially after the run we have been on," he said.

"We only lost one in 24 at one point but we haven't been getting the results lately.

"You come to Mansfield and don't expect it to be easy so to pick up a win was great for us.

"It was a tough battle and not easy, but I think we played some good football and deserved it in the end."

"We have got AFC Wimbledon next and that should give us the confidence to go and put in a decent performance against them."

Brodie had his second half penalty saved by Alan Marriott and felt the keeper deserved a huge amount of credit.

He said: "I scored one past him on Boxing Day and put it the same way, but this time he got across.

"I think he was off his line and probably moved before the kick was taken, but it was still an excellent save.

"I had scored seven out of seven before that, but I will still step up to take the next one we have."
