Veolia injunction battle 'to last until September'
A BATTLE over a High Court injunction stopping Notts County Council from revealing full details of its 26-year waste contract is expected to last until September.
Veolia Environmental Services Nottinghamshire Ltd sought the injunction just before the council was about to reveal its accounts to the public.
As a matter of course the county council allows the public to view its accounts every July.
But after Veolia had been informed that members of the public had booked to see more information about the £850m PFI deal on Monday, July 7, the company took out a High Court injunction on the Saturday.
The company first had a temporary injunction but is now looking to make it permanent.
Shlomo Dowen, a member of People Against Incineration (Pain), said it was "profoundly disturbing that the democratic and legal rights of local residents and taxpayers has been usurped".
